VOLUNTEER AT THE LEARNING HUB

Mentors are third level students form Limerick Institute of Technology, University of Limerick and Mary Immaculate College who volunteer their time and expertise to Learning Hub Limerick to help organise and manage projects being run with young people form Primary and Secondary Schools in Limerick. Once chosen, the mentors are updated on the policy and procedures of the Learning hub and brought through the Mentor Handbook in detail.
Together with the Learning Hub Project Workers, the mentors work directly with groups of primary and secondary school students on projects that are between six and eight weeks in duration. The Mentors set goals and deadlines and ensure that learning logs are complete, following the guidelines laid out in the Mentor Handbook. In conjunction with the Learning Hub staff, the mentors project manage the weekly activities and outcomes, thus guaranteeing the completion of the project within the agreed timeframe.
Mentors also assist with the showcasing of the final outcomes that can happen directly after the project has been completed or during an annual Learning Hub showcase. Being a mentor provides a wonderful opportunity to hone and develop your professional skills in the field as well as being a great personal experience.
