Energy Efficiency and Green Thinking
This project set out to highlight the importance of energy management to first year students from schools all over the north side area of Limerick. Over the eight weeks, participants were given the opportunity to work with many different instruments to measure, monitor and observe thermal energy within the Hub.
These instruments included a thermal imaging camera and heat sensors. Data from the heat sensors was used to plot graphs and measure heat loss and conservation in the Hub for the duration of the project. In the final weeks of the project, a video was created emphasising “Green thinking” and energy efficiency. As part of the video, a 3D model of the Hub was built from scratch. Our specially trained Hub arts and crafts squad assisted in the recreation of the miniature Hub. In order to incorporate thermal energy into the video, different parts of the house were coloured based on the heat readings. The short film was a huge success.
