Today we welcomed 15 children from the Southill Area Centre for a day of activities.
First off, they cooked up a storm in our new Youth Cafe and demonstration kitchen. On the menu was some delicious pizzas (made from scratch) and also some unbelievably tasty cookies. They did a great job and, judging by the food, there are definitely some up and coming chefs in the group!
Next on the agenda was kickboxing and instructor Paul began the workshop with some exercises to warm up. The children were really well behaved and involved and it definitely got their blood pumping! They gave it their all for the duration of the kickboxing class and showed some great promise as future Kick Boxers!
Our resident Scientist – Sean, began Science Hub with a few short demonstrations which totally amazed the children and got them excited to become involved themselves. We split the children into 3 groups and with the help of Sean, Fintan and Tiernan they worked through some pre-organised experiments. The kids became really involved in this and weren’t afraid to get their hands dirty! Whether it was shooting a rocket into the sky using only air pressure or the mysterious concoction that shifted between liquid and solid form, they loved it all!
The children were an absolute pleasure to work with and their engagement and enthusiasm throughout the day left our staff and volunteers delighted after another successful day at Learning Hub Limerick.
