Friendship Book

The aim of this project was to produce a Friendship Book for 2nd to 4th class pupils written by students from Salesian’s Primary School. The students worked closely with five Learning Buddies who facilitated the project. Important topics that were discussed throughout the project included; the role of friendship and what it means to be a friend, bullying, trust, jealousy, empathy, peer pressure, conflict and resolution. Topics were introduced using fun activities and students were given reflection time at the end of project sessions to write creative stories based on our topic for that week. These stories feature in their finished book. Creativity was very important in producing the book and it was incorporated into the working sessions as much as possible, a bullying comic strip and bookmark were also produced and included in the finished book. It’s worth noting that as the aim was to produce a book based on friendship, respect for each member of the group was central to each project session, without teamwork and listening it would not have been possible to complete the book
