Hi everyone, we are delighted to have RTE’s wonderful Nationwide team with us today looking at the Science Hub in particular, but getting an overview of the Learning Hub too. Lots of great action shots with science shows and experiments galore. Hope you tune in next Friday Feb 17th at 7pm.

Great start on parade project 2012

Hi thanks to everyone volunteering from LSAD. We are off to a great start with our float this year – we are not posting up any photos just yet ( our amazing ideas are TOP SECRET) but concepts are formulating and structures are appearing – keep in touch via our facebook parade page also for updates on this project! Our hope is that 5/6 student mentors working 10 kids per group will work together to create any even more spectacular project this year.

February begins and a busy January ends..

It really has been a very busy January at the Learning Hub. Our plans for the parade are up and running already thanks to the wonderful co-ordination skills of Aine Kelly ( a one time volunteer here at the Hub!) and all the great art college students lending us a hand. We also welcomed our newest full time Learning Buddies on site this month from UL. Welcome to Eileen, Lisa, Hannah, John, Seamus, Tara and Jennifer! They are already setting up Study Club aimed at 1st and 2nd year students, helping to plan Story Hub’s and writing press releases and articles about the work here not to mention visiting schools and organising music workshops. We also welcomed back our Band incubation students and mentors this January and look forward to great things this April. Finally, welcome back to all our students involved in kickboxing – their 2012 belt grading takes place next week and we wish you all the best of luck!

Happy New Year! Back to business at the Hub

Busy return to business here at the Hub this January. We have 10 primary students preparing their exhibition for the RDS Primary Science exhibition in Dublin this Saturday and students getting back into the swing of Music too. Next week we welcome a new batch of volunteers from University of Limerick and LImerick School of Art and Design who will also be involved in Science Hub, Health Hub, Story Hub, Digihub, Art Hub and Music Hub pretty much straight away. Its been great to have a break over Christmas but we are raring to go with the St Patrick’s Day parade and other important goals ahead of us this term. Keep an eye out for our end of year newsletter going live on the site early next week too.

Reindeer Age Album Launch this Saturday Dec 3rd in Dolans!

Hi everyone, hope you guys can make it along to support the album launch of the Reindeer Age in Dolans this Sat night from 8:30 onwards lots of local bands will be taking to the stage in aid of Learning Hub Limerick. CDs are for sale from the Hub directly or from HMV, Tuscany Restaurant, O’Connells and of course from Dolan’s on the night!
We will have new on where you can download the album shortly too. Thanks again to Keith Kelly & the bands and volunteers for all these efforts on our behalf.

Reindeer Age Charity album nearing completion!

Thanks so much to Keith Kelly, all the bands donating tracks and artists donating beautiful art work all in aid of the Learning Hub!We are also really thankful to have talented co-op students from UL’s Music Media and Performance BA working hard to master the album as we speak today.. Halloween Camp Begins

A sunny Halloween camp starts today and runs Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11 to 3pm with a party until 5pm on Thursday.
Age groups 8 – 12 only but please note that places are now full. Fitkids, music, art and science fun all week! Thanks to all our volunteers for helping out with everything this week – we can’t do it without you! Jennifer

Happening Hub!

Hey everybody, busy week here at the Hub – we just had the Parksinson’s Society Choir group using our Music Hub, bands in rehearsing today from Limeick Jazz Society and our Music Hub back in buiness with primary and second level students. Thanks to our third level students also busy building our Creative Suite area here in the main house as I write! All this will befollowed by family dog training tomorrow as part of the NLEC’s Giggler Treatment Literacy project here on the Northside! Not forgetting personal development projects with Social Care students from LIT and Salesians Secondary School, science hub planning and Halloween camp planning! Again, I just want to acknolwedge the amazing co-op students and volunteers who make all this activity possible! Thanks you all, Jennifer
